Hey guys! Now if you’ve read my previous post/review about my experience with Lush bath bombs you’ll know that I’ve had quite a bit of trouble with this brand. Actually I’ve had a lot of trouble. It seems like everything I get from them sucks or doesn’t live up to the hype and expectation that everyone creates for this company. I honestly don’t see myself ordering from them again. I’m actually ready to try a new soap company called Fortune Cookie Soaps that has pretty awesome things like a Polyjuice Potion line, A Butterbeer scent, A Game of Thrones inspired collection. They just seem so much better than Lush.
However one thing I feel like Lush does pretty well is the soap. I did buy one soap, Ice Blue, and I’ve been using it the past couple of days. It costs about $6.50 so it’s pretty pricey for a soap but you pay around the same for artisan soaps on etsy as well. The thing is for almost $7 I want a pretty decent size bar of soap. This soap fits in the palm of my hand easily and I have super small hands. I think this bar is worth around $4.50 for it’s size.
When you first use this soap you’ll notice something right away. That would be the horribly painful scratching sensation of the bits of sea salt on the surface of the soap. I’m all about exfoliation but this was like jagged little needles stabbing my skin. I normally use soap straight out the package on my skin, you might want to rub it against a washcloth first to soften the salt. It does soften eventually, it took about a minute or two to buff out the roughness of the salt and everything was fine after that. The Peppermint scent is really strong and refreshing. And it lingers nicely on my skin. I feel nice and clean after using this soap. I wouldn’t mind testing out other soaps from Lush just not any other products from them. I’ve tried bath bombs, toothy tabs, and a certain skin moisturizer and I’ve hated them all so far. This one wasn’t too bad save for the size and sea salt. I’d probably give this a 3.5 out of 5. Since this soap is also expensive it’ll be awhile until I purchase from them again. I’d rather head on over and try FCS before getting another order from Lush.
