This past Wednesday (the 30th) was my birthday! The big 22! It wasn’t anything special but I did go out with my girls. I know I’ve done a black and gold look before but this one is a little different. I was inspired by my new HouseofBeauty Co lippie in 24k (review here), so I wanted to do another gold look. This one was more muted because I didn’t do a cut crease or anything extravagant like in my previous look.

I really loved this look though I think the black could’ve been a little bit darker! But overall it was the perfect excuse to try a new lippie;) Hope you guys enjoyed!
Yes, I’m aware I’m late on my posts! Life has been weird…not exactly hectic but I am a little lazy. Ok…a lot lazy. But eventually, I will get back to posting like today!
For Halloween, I didn’t go to any parties or anything like that. Instead, I dressed up for work. Since I work in the Cosmetics department I wanted to wear something kind of casual and not really too extravagant. I didn’t know how many people were dressing up so I thought I’d just do something simple. I decided to be a Slytherin!.I love my house very much, no matter what people say. I even have my degree from Hogwarts (that I made from scratch entirely in photoshop and printed on cardstock!). And if we care to get even deeper into my nerdy obsession with the best house, I do have my own Hogwarts character, Alomena Crowley, a major in herbal magic!
So I didn’t have some of the essentials to create the costume. This was very on the fly, day of kind of deal. I had a Hogwarts costume robe before but I couldn’t for the life of me find it so instead I just chose to wear a black v neck shirt (because I also didn’t have a white button up), a black skirt (with pockets!) and black cardigan with a Slytherin necktie as well as Slytherin sock that have little capes on them and black flats.
I chose to wear my super curly wig because I needed a change of pace from the short wig I wear at work all the time. This I my favorite wig and I get a bunch of compliments on it whenever I wear it.
The face was also simple because I don’t really have much time before I head off to work to get ready. I’m lazy and try to get as much sleep as I can, haha! I used e.l.f. eyeshadow primers, Nyx’s Jumbo eye pencil in Milk for the base, and a combination of my Morphe 12p palette, a green from my Kat Von D Serpentina palette and I believe just a shade or two from my Bh Cosmetics Galaxy Chic palette. I used all green of course. The lid was more so a light whiteish/green, the crease a brighter almost lime green, and the outer corner a darker sparkling emerald. I used Physician’s Formula 2-in-1 Eye boosting Eyeliner to create a wing and added my It Cosmetics Superhero Mascara.
The brows were either my Nyx Eyebrow Pencil or my Anastacia Beverly Hills Dipbrow Pomade. I can’t exactly remember!
The face was just a Covergirl sort of bb cream that was on clearance at my job. It’s pretty lightweight and I’m using it because my Flower BB Cream is running low. I used a smidge of my Covergirl powder foundation to set it then added a bit of Too Faced Cocoa Contour to carve out my face just a bit.
And there you have it! Simple yet super cute and effective. I had a few people recognize that I was from Harry Potter so I’d call it a success! It was also super fun and I felt more like myself instead of wearing my boring uniform. Hopefully I’ll get to do something a bit more extravagant next year!
I’ve been dying to do a green centered look for awhile now. I’ve been seeing a lot of graphic liners and different kind of looks that aren’t just basic makeup looks so I wanted to try something a little avant garde. I’ve been having some problems with my makeup creativity and doubting my skills as an MUA, so I thought this look would spark some sort of passion again.

Too Faced Better Than Sex Mascara
Jcat Beauty Wonder Lip Pain is Pishslaver
OCC Liptar in tarred
Physician’s Formula 2-in-1 Eye Booster Eyeliner
It was hard to capture the different shades of green I used thanks to the crappy lighting in my house. I’m working on getting a clip on ring light for taking selfies and hopefully that might help. I had been seeing some graphic liners used under the brow on Instagram and I wanted to try that but I dont think I executed it well enough. I probably would’ve just used the green liner only. I used a geometric template (like the ones you used to get in elementary school) to pat various green eyeshadows in the shape of small triangles. I tried to use a white eyeliner to outline the shapes but it wasn’t showing up at well with my foundation on. So i ended up just using the template. It was a bit hard to see where I wanted the triangles to go since the template itself is big. So I would’ve planned out where I wanted the triangles to go a little better.
The lips were my favorite. I tried to do a dual color lip, using the green on the bottom and black lip paint on top but the green wasn’t coming out nice enough. Of course since the lip tars stay moistly wet so they started to mix a little and it turned into a weird color, with the black dominating over the green. So I decided to go back in with the green shadows I used over top and it basically turned something bad into something amazing. I loved the look of the shadows on top of the lip tar and I liked how the powders kind of set the liptars so they weren’t moving around as much.
I also wanted to do a green contour but that didn’t turn out as nicely as I would’ve wanted. Overall I really like the shadows I used and how the lips turned out but I need to work on my eyebrows and adding “theatrics” to my looks. I want to try things that are more artistic and out of the ordinary.
Have you guys hit any makeup stumps? Or creativity blocks in general? They’re the absolute worst! Tell me how you overcome them and offer any advice you have!:)
Hi guys! Recently I went to a Melanie Martinez concert. I truly enjoy her style as it totally fits in with part of my aesthetic. At the concert I wore a Jumperskirt from Bodyline with a carousel horse pattern (Lolita wear), ruffled white socks and white boots that I got off of Wish. I wanted my makeup look to be soft and pastel as well but with something else-GLITTER TEARS! You can’t be a proper crybaby without some glitter tears.

I used two primers, one for moisturizing (Too Faced) and one for adding shimmer (Loreal). For the eyeshadow look itself I did a purple, blue, pink, yellow, lavender/white kind of gradation. The colors started off lighter and went towards the blue and purple. All shadows were shimmer/foils. The good thing about the BH Galaxy Chic palette is that the eyeshadows are mixed colors. There are only a few shadows in that palette that are one solid color. Other than that you’re getting a mix of colors that are going to create depth and cool designs. For the eyelashes I did the Etude House Lash Serum first, The Powerlash mascara after, added the fake lashes (which I am still mastering the art of getting the corners to stick), then used the Smashbox Mascara afterwards. I’m starting to like fake lashes but I can never get them on completely right. The inner corners always start to peel up and jab me in the eye after an hour or two. I try to put on a lot of glue but I also think that because my eyes are so moist and water a lot it affects the glue and dissolves it.
I applied the glitter primer first in the shape of a tear/teardrops then stuck a flat eyeshadow brush in the glitter and packed it on. it stayed on for most of the night but made the skin under my eyes a little sensitive when I removed it.
Also if you can look closely you can see that my eyeshadow on my right eye, towards the inner corner has creased and rubbed off. As I mentioned in my Black and Gold tutorial (here) ever since I used the gold Jeffree Star eyeshadow all over my lid my makeup looks have been doing this. I don’t know why, the left one is always fine but the right is just failing. I’m still struggling to figure out what exactly is the cause of it all.
Overall I liked this look a lot. I thought it was really cute and I’ve been into shimmery eyeshadows a lot lately. I love doing pastel looks as well. I was cute as all hell at that concert!
It’s been awhile since I’ve done this look. I can’t even remember what I was doing that day…oh right! I went out on a date and I had been wanting to do a black and gold look for a long time, so I just decided to do it and warn my date that it might be a little over the top. Haha! It was also the first time I tried to do a cutcrease. I think it worked out all right but the colors I used didn’t preform well enough. Most of the shadows were from the Jeffree Star Beauty Killer palette (review here). This look was done before the scandal appeared. I am still boycotting the brand but I’m also not going to be throwing out makeup I spent good money on so I might use his products in the future as well (like I did yesterday).
Here is a list of products used:

Jeffree Star Liquid Lipstick in Weirdo
I will say that the Jeffree Star eyeshadows that I used make the look kind of muddy after awhile and ever since i used the gold shadow in the palette, I’ve had my eyeshadows crease and fall off in the same spot every single time. I used different primer, different shadows, and with or without setting spray but it’s always the same result. I even try keeping my eyes from being too watery but seriously, ever since I’ve used this palette my makeup looks have had this problem. I don’t know why but I think it was because the gold and glitter flakes in that particular JS eyeshadow messed up my eye. Before I did this look my eye makeup was fine. If I could redo this look I would try and use only Strobe cosmetics Fit for a Queen as I think it saved the look. I also need a good black eyeshadow. I realized I only have like 2 from my Pixi palette and I would appreciate some recommendations!!
I’d like to redo this look and use more proper shadows and work on my cut creases more. I’ve just started doing them so I’m not too great at it, but everyone’s got to start somewhere right?! 🙂
Dragcon was more than a month ago, I know, but I haven’t really had much time to catch up and write things. I’ve been trying to make videos and things are recorded but i’m so lazy at editing. It’s pretty bad and thus explains my lack of posting. I’ve set time aside to try and knock out a few posts, however it’s also 2 am now so we’ll see how much i get done!
This was Dragcon’s second year running. There was a bunch of booths and definitely a bunch of makeup vendors, so it was basically paradise. The only criticism I have (which isn’t really anyone’s fault) was the fact that I had to wait more than 2 hours in line to get to Jeffree Star’s booth and buy his first makeup palette. What really pissed me off was that by the time I was at the front the palettes had sold out so I basically waited in line for nothing. I did purchase a few liquid lips and eventually got the palette (more on that later). Most of my money definitely went to makeup but I did get a few jewelry pieces, clothing from Kreepsville 666, hairbows, art, and artisan soaps (which I have a definite weakness for). I also stood in line most of the time to meet some of my favorite drag queens from Season 8 and earlier such as Cynthia Lee Fontaine, Bob the Drag Queen (who was crowned a week later), Thorgy Thor, Courtney Act, Chi Chi Devayne, Dax Exclamation Point and a few of my favorite feminist voices such as Amber Rose and Steven Joseph. I’ll try to do a full post on my trip to Los Angeles on my personal blog-spookyboogie13.
Now onto the looks! Dragon was only a 2 day con so I was there Saturday and Sunday. Saturday’s look was very neutral. I wore a grey crop top with stretchy high waisted soft fabric jean pants, and clear jelly sandals. Both the wigs I wore were from Divatress.com.
The look itself was neutral, especially because I was wearing neutral colors. So I did a soft brown smokey eye with a deep brown matte lip. I only carried one palette with me which was my Pixi Ultimate Beauty Book 2nd edition, which I got at Target.
Eyes: Pixi Ultimate Beauty Book 2nd Edition, Physician’s Formula 2-in-1 Eye Booster and Liner in Black, Smashbox Full Exposure Mascara, Ardell Lashes (I can’t remember the size, sorry!)
Eyebrows: ABH Dipbrow Pomade in Granite
Face: Bh Cosmetics Liquid Foundation in Golden Beige, ABH Contour Cream Palette in Medium, City Color Powder Contour Palette
Lips: Loreal in 860 Spice, Rimmel London Lasting Finish 1000 Kisses Stay on Contouring Pencil in 041 Coffee Bean.
This was honestly the best selfie I have ever taken in my life and I’ve never felt so gorgeous!
Sunday’s look was very much super pastel and kind of Marina and the Diamonds inspired though not intentionally! My outfit was a pastel dress that I got at Wal-Mart for $14 and I wore my clear jelly shoes again. I only had a small weekend bag so I really had to condense on my outfit options. I loved my outfits anyway. The wig was a black rooted wig that faded into a silver then mint color. The necklace was from Kreepsville 666.
Eyes: Pixi Ultimate Beauty Book 2nd Edition (purples, Nyx Jumbo Eye Pencil in Milk (for base) and single eye shadow in Mermaid, Physician’s Formula 2-in-1 Eye Booster and Liner in Black, Smashbox Full Exposure Mascara, Morphe Lashes in #79
Eyebrows: ABH Dipbrow Pomade in Granite
Face: Bh Cosmetics Liquid Foundation in Golden Beige, ABH Contour Cream Palette in Medium, City Color Powder Contour Palette
Lips: Jeffree Star Velour liquid Lipstick in Breakfast at Tiffany’s.
Now time for the haul! I visited several makeup booths around the con, which had great discounted prices (only for the con). This was awesome because I had limited spending money (sort of, I did save up money for this trip but also had to factor in food and other attractions I wanted to see). So here’s what I got:
I’ve been wanting to get some Morphe brushes for a long time and there was a giant Morphe booth at the con. Morphe in general has great brushes at low prices so they’re great for people who are on a budget like myself. The brushes I got were the M164 (a small angled contour brush), MB19 (a small flat detail brush), M200 (A fluffy blending brush), M135 (a flat c shape brush), and the MB30 (a jumbo flat kabuki brush for contouring). Their lashes at the con were 6 for $10 I believe and I got #5, #79, 2 #304 (by accident haha), # 61, and a pair of jumbo fluttery lashes whose number I don’t remember because I threw out the box:P). I also got their 12P palette which is a small 12 color palette with bright almost neon colors
I also got a bunch of liquid lippies from Jcat Beauty, OCC, and Jeffree star. Jcat beauty had 3 for $10 sales on a lot of their products, OCC was selling their liptars in their old packaging 3 for $5!!! I of course had to buy some! And I believe Jeffree’s Liquid lips were $15 instead of $18.
From Jcat Beauty I got a bright yellow (Hello. Goodbye), a steele grey (Splashed), and a deep mint color (Pishslaver). Their formula is similar to OCC and I find that you have to massage the tube to redistribute the peppermint oil (which is what makes it moisturizing). The colors are really pigmented and do stay on for a long time.
From OCC I got Anime, Hoochie and Pool Boy. I’ve been dying to get Pool Boy for a long time so I was really happy it was on sale! Pool Boy is a light blue, Hoochie is a purple and Anime is a deep neon pink (not my color at all but I thought I’d give it a shot).
From Jeffree Star I got another Blow Pony (lavender) because as I was packing for the trip I could not find the original tube I bought. I thought I had lost it and since it was my favorite color and the palette was sold out I decided to get another one (I ended up finding my original tube after I got back of course). I also got Redrum (classic red) because I wanted a matte red lip. And you can never have too many red lipsticks.
Mehron also had a both and to be honest I thought they would have some of their special effects makeup there as well. But they mostly kept to beauty makeup. I only ended up getting 2 things, a creamblend stick in Medium Olive for $12 and a pressed eyeshadow in Red Earth for about $7.It’s a deep red burgundy color and very pretty and pigmented.
Tatcha had a booth and after listening to the very dedicated spiel of the salesperson, and being very afraid to ask the prices I found that they were selling their travel size cleansing oil for only $12. Which I was thankful for because everything else was freaking $60 something dollars for like a 3 oz bottle! Way out of my price range. Though the cleansing oil is very nice I cannot afford Tatcha products.
I also got some free stuff from the Hustler booth. Hustler being the adult magazine. Basically I took a photo with a very nice woman there and then they gave my free stuff, which I was all about. I got some Shimmery Body Bronzer and a lipgloss, which doesn’t smell that great but hey it was free and nice.
The last thing I got makeup wise from the con was from Strobe Cosmetics who have wondering pigmented and sparkly eyeshadows. Normally their prices online are $6.50 per single shadow. At the con they were $4.50. I got 4 of them: Azure (a gorgeous shimmery blue, similar to Nyx’s Mermaid), Urban Princess (a deep purple), Fit For a Queen (which is a BAM IN YO FACE I’M RICH gold), and World Eater (a nice deep red). The woman at Strobe Cosmetics was an absolute sweet heart and her makeup is absolutely gorgeous and I highly recommend them.
Now On top of buying makeup at the con, when I got back from the 1st day I realized that there was a Sephora DIRECTLY ACROSS THE STREET from the hostel I was staying at. So I got myself into more trouble (and debt) and got some things there as well. I was dead set on getting Kat Von D products and I got her Everlasting Liquid Lipstick in Echo, which is a deep blue violet similar to Jeffree Star’s Abused. I found however that it was a little fussy going on the lips especially in the center, but it dries as nicely as any other liquid to matte. I also got a combo pack sort of thing that had the Tattoo Liner in Trooper (black) and a mini Studded Kiss lipstick in Magick (a warm light reddish brown). I also got a mini autograph pencil liner in Proud Peacock (deep olive with sparkles). Green is not typically my color but it had been following me around since before my trip to LA, so I decided to cave in and get some green makeup!
There was also a set of 5 mini eyeshadow palettes from Sephora’s holiday collection that was about $10. I decided to split it with my friend who I took the trip with. I also got The Pure Skin Facial Cleanser from First Aid Beauty. I had tried First Aid Beauty in one of my Ipsy bags (which I’ve resubscribed too and I’m already pleased with what I’m getting in my 1st bag back) and I really liked it so I decided to get the facial cleanser again. I believe it was about $10 to $12 at Sephora for the 2 oz tube. And last but not least, I caved in and got the Alice in Wonderland palette.
I had saw this at my local Sephora and I wanted it so bad. The $60 price was crazy but you do get 20 eyeshadows and it comes in gorgeous packaging. It honestly had me sold with the color Hatter ( a nice bright green which started the whole “green makeup is sending me sign” thing). This UD palette definitely makes up I think for the Gwen Stefani one (which I was pretty disappointed that it was basically all neutrals). The Alice in Wonderland palette has a variety of neutrals, but not just your boring browns, it has colors like burnt orange, warm chocolates, burgundies, and small pops of colors like with Hatter. I haven’t used it much yet so I can’t say if it was really worth the $60 but it does has some nice soft shades that can double as highlighters. I don’t have a great picture of it but will eventually!
Hope you guys enjoyed the haul! I hope to have some other posts up soon and will try and comment on some of your blog posts as well!
Do you guys ever put on a full face of makeup even though you’re just spending the night at home? My friend and I do this all the time. In fact it’s one of our favorite things to do. I had kind of done this look on my friend before but it’s one of my fave looks to do so I had to do it on myself. It’s very pastel, very sparkly, and super kawaii. It’s not hard to do either, I feel like none of my makeup looks are really that hard but I have been doing this for 2 years, so maybe it is 😄 Anyway, let’s get started.

I always start by spritzing my face with with my Pixi Makeup fixing spray. This has been my go to product for a month or two now. A cheaper alternative would be E.L.F.’s Fixing Spray. Next I did my eyebrows. I used a small angled brush and the ABH Dipbrow pomade. It’s kind of hard for me to describe how I do my eyebrows but basically I outlined the shape I wanted using teh angle of the brush then fill it in using the flat side of the brush. You only need a little bit of product because it’s very pigmented and goes a long way. Here is a before and after shot of my brows
After filling in my brows I clean it up with a bit of concealer, in this case my Evelyn Iona Concealer that I still have from my Ipsy bag a few months back. That small sample has lasted me awhile. Before i put on my eyeshadow I adding tape to the corner of my eyes to help me create a defined edge. Remember to put the tape on the back of your hand first before putting it on the corner of your eye so it loses some of the tackiness and it easier on the skin around your eye.
Next I moved onto the eyeshadow. For the primer I used Lorac, which I got off ebay. I do not like this formula. I think it’s way too creamy and it goes on really thick. I didn’t even use a lot but it just want too much. I like my Primers a bit more sheer and more pliable. I definitely prefer my UD Primer Potion or even E.L.F.’s eyeshadow primer. I then laid down my base, which was NYX’s Jumbo Eye Pencil in Milk. Then I packed on NYX’s Mermaid eyeshadow with a flat c-brush. I would even recommend wetting your brush before picking up the product to really pack it on. This eyeshadow actually doesn’t have that much fallout, only a little. it’s also easily buildable. I applied this color all over the lid but if I was to do this again I would only cover 2/3 of the eylid and leave the inner corner (by the tearduct) open for out next color.
The next color was NYX’s Jumbo Eye Pencil in Strawberry Milk. I used this as a crease color and also in the inner corner of the eye. I used a fluffy blending brush to blend it all in. The next color I used was from the Galaxy Chic palette. That color was Cosmic which is a purple. All the shadows are kind of foils, very shimmery and slightly glittery. The tape helped me create a nice crease as well. I blended it in, added a touch more of the Mermaid color and used a flat eyeshadow brush to blend Cosmic and Mermaid on my lower lash line. I then used Nyx’s White Liquid Eyeliner (which I still don’t like, I actually should have tried using my Jeffree Star Liquid Lipstick in Druglord for this (yes they’re eyesafe). The wing was small as I didn’t want to cover the pretty colors I used. I finished the eyes using Smashbox Full Exposure mascara, which everyone knows is my favorite.
For the face I first applied the Etude House Any Cushion to the red areas on my face which is around my nose and cheeks. The product actually comes off with a green tint and use it as a corrector. For concealer I actually used a bit of the cream color “cream” from the ABH kit after I put on Flower’s Daily Brightening Under Eye Cover Cream. I did a light contour for this look as well only going a little more heavy with the highlight. I finished it off with dabbing a bit of the Flower cream blush right at the apples of my cheeks.
The lips of course were my latest shade of Jeffree Star’s Velour Liquid Lipstick, Breakfast at Tiffany’s.
The pictures are mostly unedited, i tried to capture the real color as best as I could.Hope you guys enjoyed!
Hey guys! Last weekend I went to Ohayocon, a convention that’s held in Columbus, Ohio. This is my third year in a row going. I only did one cosplay which was Super Sonico. The other day I dressed up in a Lolita style. This was my first time ever doing lolita and it was very nerve wrecking but I got a lot of compliments! Lolita in general has very soft looks and also the character Super Sonico wears no makeup so I decided to use the same look for both days. It was a no makeup makeup type look but with big eyelashes and using white/nude eyeliners to make my eyes appear bigger. There are only a few subtle difference in the eye makeup but other than that both looks are the same. I’ll include a product list and some pictures from the con! Hope you enjoy.

Face: First I moisturized my face with the Pixi Fixing Mist. it has rose water and green tea and is super light. It smells amazing and is much cheaper than buying Mac’s version (though you can also make your own for much cheaper, I have not tried it yet). Pixi also does not test on animals so that’s a bonus! The under eye setting cream came after. I blended that in with my ring finger and let it sit for a bit. I then used the Flower Daily Brightening Under Eye Cream, blended it out, then followed it with the Evelyn Iona concealer. I used the BB Cream all over my face. I used BB Cream since it was light and wouldn’t be as heavy as foundation, and would give me a more natural look. I did a slight contour using the darkest shades of the Nyx Tango with bronze Powder. I didn’t want to contour too much, which is why i didn’t bring my trust ABH contour kit.
I used the Benefit’s Watt’s Up highlighting stick to highlight above my cheek bones and dabbed the Milani blush in a small circular motion, being careful to blend it out so it didn’t look too harsh. I sealed everything again with a few spritzes of the Pixi Fixing Mist.
Eyes: Start off with the two faced shadow insurance. I used Naked 2 as a base all over my lid. Then used Faint in the crease as well as Unconditional and unspoken from the Lorac palette. I used W.O.S. in the middle of my eye to brighten it up then used the Sephora white eyeshadow for my tear duct. I lined my waterline with the Nyx Wonder pencil and added a tad bit of Crave from the Naked Basic palette to mimic a softer eyeliner which sat right below my waterline. One the lashline I used the Physican’s Formula eyeliner and only lined my lids 3/4 of the way. The last quarter towards the tear duct was left without eyeliner. I made sure to draw a small wing going downwards to mimic more doll like eyes. In the very corner of my eye (opposite corner to the tearduct) I added a bit of the Jumbo Pencil in Milk. I finished that off with 2 coats of the Smashbox mascara. The Lolita makeup was the same except I used the tresique crayon and Unattainable in the crease to give it a bit more shimmer.
And here are the final looks! Each one took me about 45 mins to complete. They were simple but I was trying to make sure they looked perfect:)
Super Sonico Look
Please head on over to my personal blog to see what else I did that weekend!
Who says Halloween is over? I sure don’t/ Everyday is Halloween for me and I always love playing with makeup. My inspiration came from helping a (very cute) friend of mind with his Halloween makeup. He wanted to go as the Joker from Suicide Squad. I had been thinking about recreating the look just to make it more refined and I’d thought I’d practice a bit more first. I didn’t even use that many (I almost wrote ingredients, hah!)different or complicated products. I’m sure anyone can do this.
White Cream Face Paint (Bloody Mary)
White Setting Powder (Cinema Secrets)
Eyeshadow Primer (Urban Decay)
Red, Black, and Brown Matte Shadows (pixi)
Deep red, blood red, black(reddish purple) cream paints (Cinema Secrets)
Liquid Latex (From Wal-Mart)
Water Based Body Paints (optional, from Wolfe Paints)
Synwax or a Purple Glue Stick
I wasn’t going to wear this makeup long so I didn’t bother to prime my face but if you’re going to wear this for an extended period of time I would suggest using primer then makeup setting spray after the look is complete.
First I had to add on the latex onto the sides of my face. I used a regular paint brush, dipped it into the latex and starting from the corners of my lips brushed on the latex in a smile shape heading up towards my cheek bones. Do not put latex on your lips. Separate the smile into two sides For reference you can look up a “Glasgow Smile” on Google images (but this is fairly gruesome) or “Joker Smile” (which might result in more tamer images of the batman character) The joker smile derives from the Glasgow Smile which is when you cut into the cheeks to make a larger, more scary smile, but we won’t go into the history of Scottish gangs now. Basically this means, your latex application doesn’t have to be perfect and the more jagged the edges are the better. Add a few coats of the latex following the same line you created (about 5-7 coats). The latex dries clear, and once one layer is clear you can add another. Then take some tweezers and carefully pry about 1/8th of an inch of the latex away from the corner of your lips. You can pick at it until you get a hole big enough to slide some cuticle scissors into the hole. Be very carefully when doing this. It is best to use small scissors, such as the cuticle scissors, to add extra precaution.
Cut a line following the shape you created with the latex, up the middle of it and stop about 1/2 inch from the end. You don’t want to cut all the way through the latex piece. Once this is done, add the white mattfying powder to get rid of the stickiness.
Then, I had to tackle the eyebrows which is always difficult for me. It’s about as frustrating as putting on falsies. There are two ways to approach this though. First it how I did it, which was to apply Synwax (click for more details) to the brows to flatten them. This wont rip off any hairs at all either. I did a few coats of Synwax using my nail to push it into the hairs and flatten them to my forehead. The first half of the brow should be pushed upwards while the tail end of the brow should be pushed and flattened outwards. Use the setting powder to make it not sticky. I skipped covering with foundation since I was going to use white face paint but I would suggest making using a pale foundation or concealer to help hide the brows more.
The other way you can do this is by not hiding your natural brows and instead filling them in entirely with a white pencil or cream paint then dabbing on green eyeshadow (or perhaps a liquid lipstick) I do not own any green anything(but the water based body paint which was too light to show up on my black brows) so I had to go with the first option.
From there on, paint your entire face with the white cream based paint. I used a regular makeup sponge to dab the cream pain on my face. Try and get about 2 layers on so it’s opaque then set it with the white powder once again. Avoid the eyes and inside of the cut latex piece. Recreate a high arched brow using green color. I used the water based body paints and an angled brush to try and make the brows.
Then add some eyeshadow primer and in a rough circular motion add the red, brown and black eyeshadows. I concentrated the red underneath my eye, used brown on the lid and black towards the corners of my eyes.
To tackled the mouth piece I concentrated the black cream color towards the out corner of the latex then blended the reds towards my lips. It doesn’t have to be perfect but try to create some depth and dimension. For the lips (which I did cover with the white face paint) i smeared whatever was left of the red cream paint onto it. So i added color with teh brush then took my fingers and swiped it across the lips to give a messy look. Lastly, I took a stipple sponge and some blood (you can find tubes of these for a dollar around Halloween time) and stippled it across the latex (not on the lips) and in sparse areas around my face. I didn’t use any other sfx blood with this just standard liquid blood.
And Voila, very bored makeup is done haha! I had to rush a bit at the end of the makeup because I had popped a pizza in the oven and you can eat with fake blood and latex around your mouth. Removing the latex is really easy too. You just peel it right off. I also used regular makeup wipes to remove everything. If your skin is sensitive I would suggest washing it then adding a moisturizer after:) Happy Joker-ing!
